Purpose & Destination
Asking and attempting to answer questions are fundamental human attributes.
Where am I from and where am I going?
These fundamental questions are among the most important to ask and attempt to answer.
They invoke and bring to light our core beliefs. To our cost or benefit many beliefs have been pre-installed and programmed by our ancestors.
Without proper examination and willful choice, these default beliefs run the risk of being controlled by our limbic system (lizard brain) and become the primary drivers of our actions and inactions.
These questions may seem difficult to answer, but I would implore you to attempt to answer them. I have wrestled and struggled with these questions for years. Here are some guiding thoughts that have helped me:
Translating:
Where am I from - what is my purpose?
Where am I going - what is my destination?
For me, it looks like this:
I choose to believe,
that my purpose is to love and serve others.
To be worthy of Heaven is my destination.
Conclusion:
Take the time to choose and attempt to answer, What is my purpose? What is my destination?
Parting thoughts from William Henley:
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
